Ronald W. Thiessen has been President and Chief Executive Officer since 2000 of Hunter Dickinson Inc., a diversified, global mining group based in Vancouver. He is also President and CEO of Quartz Mountain Resources, Northern Dynasty Minerals, and Amarc Resources, and chair of Taseko Mines and Great Basin Gold.

Ron and his team have financed, built and operate an extensive portfolio of advanced mineral exploration, development and mining projects.

He also regularly serves as a guest speaker, panelist, and representative at mining industry events, both in Canada and internationally.

He was awarded the E.A. Scholz Award for excellence in mine development in 2008 and was named the Business Person of the Year by the Canada-Southern Africa Chamber of Business in 2011. Most recently, he was presented with the 2013 William Lawrence Saunders Gold Medal from the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration and awarded a fellowship (FCA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia.

Ron has a B.Comm. from the University of Saskatchewan and is a Chartered Accountant.
