Paul Evans

Paul Evans’ academic career has focused on Asia and trans-Pacific international relations.  Currently a professor at UBC where he has directed the Liu Institute for Global Issues and the Institute for Asian Research, he has also taught at York University, Harvard University and the University of Hong Kong and had visiting appointments at eight institutions in Asia, Australia and the United States.  Between 2005 and 2008 he served as Co-CEO of the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada.  His most recent book, Engaging China: Myth, Aspiration and Strategy in Canadian Policy from Trudeau to Harper, was published in April.  His current project focuses on the growing strategic tensions in East Asia and how to manage them peacefully.
