We are planning a tour of the Ismaili Centre on May 19. Designed by Vancouver architect Bruno Freschi, the Centre reflects traditional Islamic architectural vocabulary in a modern context. Its footprint is 41,600 square feet, with a basement containing offices and classroom space, and two upper floors, a double-height prayer hall (reserved for Ismaili worship) and a multi-purpose hall, around a courtyard with a fountain. The prayer hall is roofed with a series of shallow Turkish-style domes.
The center is located at 4010 Canada Way. We plan to start the tour at 10 am and it will take about 45 minutes. Cost will be $10 per person and members and guests are invited. The centre can not provide coffee so attendees will have to get a coffee before arriving.
The maximum number for the tour is 35.
